Best Baby Back Ribs

This recipe I have had for a long time now. I got the original recipe back in 2003 from a Taste Of Home magazine. I changed it up a bit to better suit my family. It is a favorite amongst my family and friends and has been shared many times.

I guess whenever a recipe starts with the word “best” it definitely leaves room for debate. I myself have had other amazing ribs. Ribs cooked in a smoker or on the barbecue are great too. However this rib recipe is still my favorite. It’s easy to make and the meat turns out so tender.

First start out with a package of pork baby back ribs. I use two racks of ribs for this recipe (around 6 pounds). Place ribs bone side down in a large roasting pan. Season the ribs with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Slice one whole onion and place onion slices on top of seasoned meat. Cover pan tightly with foil and bake at 350 for 2 1/2 hours.


While the ribs are baking you can make the barbecue sauce. The barbecue sauce ingredients are:
1 C. ketchup
1/4 C. packed brown sugar
1 T. dried minced onion
1 T. liquid smoke
1 T. molasses

Combine all sauce ingredients in a bowl. Set aside. This sauce recipe is very mild (for my kids). You can give it a kick if you would like.
Once the ribs have baked for 2 1/2 hours remove from the oven. Drain fat from pan, and discard sliced onion. Brush ribs with half (or a little more if needed) of the barbecue sauce. Cover and bake 30 min. longer or untill ribs are tender. Serve with remaining sauce

I like to serve the ribs with some homemade mashed potatoes and a veggie (roasted brussels sprouts or asparagus). Enjoy!

Wow, this is a little overwhelming. Where to start. A little bit about me and why I’m doing this I guess. I’m a 34-year-old woman with an absolute love and passion for all things food. Many people have influenced my love for food through the years, but I think It all stemmed from my Great- Grandmother¬†(100% Italian). Never did we walk into her home without being greeted with a table full of food. Her Pastas and Sausage and peppers were some of my favorites. Even though my great grandma is gone now, I will never forget her always in the kitchen making something good for us. Now it is my Grandma, Mom, and I carrying on her love for food.

Anyone who knows me knows that I love to cook and bake. Food is the highlight of all our gatherings. I have so many recipes to share. I thought it would be easiest to have one place to put them all. I’m not very computer savvy so please bare with me. I’m not a writer or a photographer, even though I will try to post pictures with my recipes when I can. I’m just a lover of food. What I lack in writing and photography skills I make up in the kitchen. I hope that my passion for food shows and I hope that you enjoy my recipes.

Some of the recipes I will be sharing I have created. Some I have gotten from family and friends through the years, and some have come from my over 350 cookbook and cooking magazine collection (crazy I know I guess you can call it an addiction). I will also be trying new recipes and sharing those with you too!
